TaxMalta and Brazil: towards an avoidance of double taxation agreement

May 30, 2012

Malta and Brazil have discussed signing an avoidance of double taxation agreement during a meeting Malta’s Minister for Foreign Affairs had with the Brazilian Minister of Foreign Defence on 18 May 2012 in Valletta, Malta .

Brazil has become a regional power in Latin America and is now a clear leader among developing countries on both the political and economic fronts.

In 2011, Malta imported more than €14 million worth of goods from Brazil (mainly sugar) while it exported over €7 million to Brazil (mainly electrical machinery).

There are currently 23 companies with Brazilian shareholding at the Malta Financial Services Authority.
