Company lawCOVID-19MBR Penalties and COVID-19

March 26, 2020

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Malta Business Registry (MBR) has issued measures in relation to the imposition of penalties on late submissions.

The MBR has issued a notice in relation to the submission of annual returns and financial statements.

If possible annual returns and financial statements are to be submitted on time (electronic filing is a possible option).

However, should companies be effected by COVID-19 and cannot do so, penalties for late filing would not be due.

This applies in the case that the filing of the annual returns and financial statements falls within the period of 23rd March 2020 and 31st May 2020 and are then filed by 31st July 2020.
